ANAMBRA 2022: Anambra Solidarity Forum Calls for Continuity .

A political pressure group under the auspice of Anambra Solidarity Forum, ASF,has lent its voice to call on Prof Chukwuma Soludo to run for the governorship  of Anambra state come 2021.

Addressing newsmen yesterday after rising from their maiden meeting with the 21 coordinators in the 21 local government areas of the state in Awka, the Convener and Chairman Board of Trustees of the Group, Chief Tony Muobuike stated that they took the decision to ask Professor Soludo to consider running for the governorship because of his wealth of experience.  "It is only meet that Anambra state should be led by its best and Soludo approximates the best of what Anambra  needs to transform into the state of our dream. He has the requisite knowledge, experience and the reach to make Anambra the Dubai of Nigeria".

He said that the Group pays particular attention to the effort of the present Governor in transforming the state and will not fail to lend its support in bringing Soludo who will further the gains.

"It is our belief that the Obiano government has done very well and we will be failing in our duty if we watch the effort go to waste as a result of wrong succession". "We will work in conjunction with other positive minded people of the state to ensure that Soludo, if he agrees to contest, emerges victorious".

He said that ASF is not oblivious of the  need to make Anambra an economic hub of the southeast hence  Gov. Obiano  dutifully empanelled the vision 2070 Committee with the erudite professor of economics as the chief superintendent.

It will be recalled that the Soludo-led team was charged with the task of crafting the vision and mission statements for Anambra Vision 2070. The project is expected to identify specific sectors of the economy to focus on, fashion out a development pattern and determine critical milestones to be achieved.

In her speech, the state Co-ordinator of the group, Chief Mrs. Uju Edochie reassured the group of her commitment to ensuring that Prof Soludo emerges the Governor of the state come 2022. She insisted that what the state needs is a Soludo governorship which will not only ensure continuity, but will augur for accelerated development. She encouraged members of the group to work tirelessly to ensure that the objective was achieved in good time.

Mr. Ejike Anyaduba, who is the deputy state Co-ordinator and the media anchor of the group gave the background of ASF and assured members of the group's determination to deliver Soludo once he accepts to run.

The Vice Chairman of the Board, Sir Paschal Adilieje, said he was  happy that everyone without exception  expressed their love to support Soludo and will work hard to enthrone him when the time comes.

Everyone of the 21 members who spoke, agreed that Soludo has all it takes to lead the state well. In his own submission Hon. Tokas Ohazuruike, former House of Assembly member who represented Ihiala 1 constituency, advised  the group to work hard to deliver Soludo, but quickly added  that he should not make the mistake of previous governors who once they assumed office discarded those who worked hard to enthrone them. He said he has seen where governors shut the door on those who laboured to bring them to office and  turned back to rely on godfathers and others who never raised a hand in support. He promised to deliver and urged the group to work hard to achieve its set goals.
