ASABA- The Nigerian Institution of Surveyors (NIS), Delta State Chapter recently celebrated the Global Surveyors Day with Orphans at " Mother of Divine Grace Orphanage Home", behind NTA, Asaba, Delta state capital.

This was disclosed to some group of Journalists in Asaba during the institution's advocacy visit to the Orphanage Home by the Leadership of Delta NIS led by its State Chairman, Surv. Abraham Umukoro.

Delta NIS Boss Stated that the celebration is very necessary as the institutions intends to fulfill its vision and mission of reaching out to the less-privilege groups in the society.

He also added that NIS, Delta state chapter used the opportunity to educate the general public on the activities of the professional body.

Delta NIS Boss, Surv. Abraham Umukoro,  who was accompanied by the State publicity Secretary, Surv. Charles Ogedi, and  other principal officers of the institute, thereafter prayed for God's protection and provision upon them all, the Orphans, Children in the centre, the group also commended the leadership of the Orphanage Home, therefore encouraged them to continue on their good works.

Delta NIS enjoined them on total dependence on the almighty God who is the  father of all, then used the opportunity to present some gifts and cash to the children under the care of the Coordinator of the Centre, Sister Onyenekpe Eucharia.

Surv. Abraham alongside Surveyor Charles Ogedi and  other principal officers of the Institution Presented food Items such as a bag of rice, some packets of indomie Noddles, toiletries, clothings and others to mention but a few; including Cash, which was handed over to the Centre's Coordinator, Sis. Eucharia Onyenekpe as part of Delta NIS Support to them to mark the Global Surveyors' day in Asaba.

In response to the kind gesture, Sis Eucharia thanked the Leadership of Delta NIS  on their candid support to the centre, asked the children to pray for them, which they did with words full of grace and thanksgiving.

In an interview with newsmen on what prompted the institution to celebrate with the Orphans, Delta NIS Boss noted that the Institution has line up of activities for the less-privilege groups in Delta state, people in the society, that this is the first phase of the community services, CSR the Leadership intends to carryout.

In his words: "Delta NIS planned a road show and a bigger celebration for the less-privilege groups, but has been hindered by Corona Virus Disease (COVID-19), and the prevailing economic realities in Nigeria. The  Leadership intends to ensure  that she collaborates with Delta State Government towards sustainable development".

"We  ensure public enlightenment of the General public to patronize the Institution. We are also in the mission of thanking our members on their commitment and impact to the society. And sensitize the public on the importance of the profession and its contributions to sustainable growth and development in the society".
