Covid-19: Delta Civil Society Community Hails Gov Okowa's Speech.

....Urges Community on Constructive Criticism, Says Delta State Government Will Never Interfere With Independence of the CSOs.

ASABA -  Delta State Civil Society Community has given kudos to His Excellency, Governor Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa on the efforts of the Delta State Government towards providing lasting solutions to the global Covid-19 pandemic. The Community hailed the Governor's speech as they believe the effective implementation of the directives in the speech will greatly help to curtail spread of the virus and promote Socio - economic well-being of the Citizenry in  the State.

Deacon Okezi Odugala acting coordinator of the umbrella body of Civil Society Organisations in the State disclosed this to our reporter today in a press release to journalists today after  the Governor's speech was made public.

Activist Rex Anighoro the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Delta State on Civic Engagement and Civil Society in a separate interview with our reporter commended the Civil Society for their partnership with Delta State Government in combating the Covid -19 Pandemic, he noted the hard work of the Civil Society in Voluntary Monitoring, sensitization and awareness advocacy, joining to share palliatives, giftings of palliatives to citizens and engaging in human rights protection advocacy amongst others.

He assured the Civil Society Community that the State Government will continue to support their work but never interfere with their independence. He urged them to be constructive in their criticism of Government and not to play into the hands of politicians who engage in sponsored blackmail and propaganda.

He called for the continuous constructive engagements with the Government in the work towards the good of Delta State.
