ASABA- The Chairman, National Youth Council of Nigeria, Delta State Chapter, Comrade Kenneth Okorie has reacted to the recent Broadcasts by President Mohammadu Buhari, and Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State on Covid-19 Partial lockdown (relaxation of total lockdown) in the fight against Covid-19, Stated that the residents of Delta State should embrace lifestyles that would put to a stop the spread of the highly dreaded Corona virus.
Comrade Okorie gave the advice recently in an exclusive interview with Newsmen in Asaba, Delta State capital stated that the development will come to the rescue of the Nigerian, especially Delta State economy towards Sustainable growth and development of well-being of the Citizenry.
Comrade Okorie said relaxing the lockdown was good against the background that it was affecting the nation's economy and people's means of survival.
He thanked residents of the State for their compliance with the stay-at-home order by the State Government in the last one month and appealed to all to maintain physical distancing, wear face masks in public places, and wash their hands with alcohol-based sanitizers regularly.
He opined that failure to obey all precautionary measures could lead to community infection and ultimately degenerate to fatality.
The Youth Leader urged good spirited individuals to assist government to provide more face masks to compliment the one million already sent to various Wards by Governor Okowa.
He stressed the need for social gatherings like weddings, church and mosque services, burial and birthdays to remain on hold for some time to enable those yet to manifest the symptoms do so and go for medical treatment rather than expose more peoplen to the virus.
On the broadcast of Mr President, Comrade Okorie said that the extension of the lockdown in Lagos, Ogun, FCT and the unfortunate deaths in Kano as a laudable effort and urged residents of the affected States to comply to reduce the level of infection and death.
He said the interstate lockdown proposed by the Governors would among other things stop interstate transmission of the infectious disease.
He called on Security Operatives and Medical Practitioners not to relent as their input would help kick covid-19 out of the country.
He reminded Government at all levels of the need to start working towards floating measures that would create jobs and grow the economy before it goes into economic recession.
