Delta State Civil Society Community Congratulates Governor Ifeanyi Okowa On His Five Years In Office And Tasked Him To Leave Sustainable Legacies

The Acting Coordinator of Delta State Civil Society Community Deacon Okezi Odugala has congratulated the Executive Governor of Delta State, His Excellency, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa on his five years in Office.

This congratulatory statement was made available to pressmen today by Deacon Okezi Odugala, the Acting Coordinator of Delta State Civil Society Community the umbrella body of Civil Society Organizations in Delta State.

The Environmental Activist stated that the Governor in the past five years of his administration has opened the civic space towards civic engagement and rapid socio - economic development as civil society leaders in the state were given the opportunities to set agenda for the government, constructively engaged with the government as watchdog of the society and voice of the voiceless without gauging their independent views more so a number of civil society leaders were appointed into the administration to contribute their quota to the sustainable development of Delta State.

He maintained that Delta State has not arrived her ordained destination so we cannot play politics with the development of Delta State, he stated that the Civil Society will challenge Government, benchmark performances, monitor Governance and objectively contribute to the betterment of the State.

" No doubt, Delta State Government has opened the civic space for all and sundry but we urged the state government to work harder to make Delta State the glory of all States in Nigeria".

"We at the Delta State Civil Society Community will be constructive and firm, we will consult, consolidate and where and when necessary confront
Government. We will do our due diligence and not fail to make our position known to Government. We therefore task his Excellency Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa to leave sustainable legacies and make the Office of the citizens truly supreme", he added.
