WARRI- DELTA STATE- The Chairman and founder of the Chief Ovo Edewor Foundation, Chief Ogheneovo Edewor (The Edjenekpo of Eku) has  felicitated  with the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari and all Nigerians on the occasion of Democracy Day Celebration in Nigeria.

Chief Ogheneovo Edewor made this disclosure today in a press Statement made available to Newsmen in Warri, Delta State.

The World Distinguished Activist stated that during the last twenty one years of democratic experiment in Nigeria, there have been comparative improvements in some sectors of the economy.

The Philanthropist however, noted that there has been  improvements so far, which he said  are far less than the expectations of Nigerians.

In his words:  "The majority of Nigerians are wallowing in abject poverty. There is a high rate of graduates unemployment. There is a high degree of insecurity in Nigeria: kidnapping, bombing, armed robbery and other violent crimes".

"All Nigerians should rise to the challenge of contributing to the sustenance of democracy in Nigeria. The government at the federal, state and local level should work hard to overcome the shortcomings of democratic rule so that the labour of our democracy martyrs like Chief M. K. O. Abiola should not be in vain".

"I urged Nigerians , even as we celebrate our democracy day, to adhere strictly to all the prescribed public health protocols of social distancing, wearing of face mask, use of hand sanitizer, observance of personal hygiene and to endeavour to stay safe".

"As we celebrate our Democracy on this unique day, The Chairman and founder wishes Nigeria eternal peace, unity and prosperity. May God bless Nigeria. Long live Federal Republic of Nigeria!
Long live the Chief Ovo Edewor Foundation!"
