Project Protection, Monitoring And Evaluation: Delta State Ministry Of Works Partners With Delta State Civil Society Community.

ASABA - The Delta State Commissioner for Works, Honourable (Chief) James Augoye has said that the Ministry of Works will collaborate with the Office of the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Delta State Governor on Civic Engagement and Civil Society in partnership with the Delta State Civil Society Community on Projects Protection, Monitoring and Evaluation.

The Works Commissioner made this statement today when the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to The governor on Civic Engagement and Civil Society, Activist Rex Ekiugbo Anighoro and a delegation of Delta State Civil Society Community led by the Acting Coordinator, Deacon Okezi Odugala paid an Advocacy and Consultative visit to the Ministry with deliberations centred around independent monitoring and evaluation of Government Projects by the Civil Society Community in fulfilment of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Delta State Civil Society Community Coordinator, Deacon Okezi Odugala speaking at the visit commended the Delta State Commissioner for Works, Honourable (Chief) James Augoye for opening his doors to engage with the Civil Society noting his positive disposition is a welcome development in the pursuit of Civil Society having the open space to interface with State Actors whom the Citizens depend on to provide Leadership and Good Governance.

Deacon Okezi Odugala stated that Government Officials who live above board need not fear the presence of Civil Society, who’s mainstay is not to witch hunt nor blackmail but help Government work better for Citizens and as such should be seen as partners and catalysts for Sustainable Development. The Civil Society Community only seeks to ensure that funds budgeted are judiciously used, projects are qualitatively delivered and in a timely manner.
 
Making his own address during the Advocacy and Consultative visit, Activist Rex Ekiugbo Anighoro the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) to the Governor of Delta State on Civic Engagement and Civil Society thanked the Commissioner of Works Honourable (Chief) James Augoye for the fantastic work he has been doing as Commissioner of Works.

Activist Rex Anighoro nicked named the Commissioner for Works "THE ROAD MAKER BEHIND THE ROAD MASTER". He stated that the reason His Excellency, Senator (Dr.) Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa is called the Roadmaster globally today is because he, the Commissioner has been there as the silent hand marbling and making the difference. He made it known that when the story of the glory of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa will be told, the name  of the Honourable Works Commissioner will be mentioned in the honour’s row, and will be written in gold.

The Social Justice Activist also informed the Commissioner for Works that the Delta State Civil Society Community is the umbrella body of organized Civil Society Organizations recognized by his Office, he, therefore, most respectfully enjoined the Commissioner for Works to engage as much as possible with the Delta State Civil Society Community in a bid to carry all stakeholders along and keep them abreast with the policies and workings of Government for the purpose of transparency and open government.

Activist Rex Ekiugbo Anighoro noted that his office will continue to interface with Ministries, Departments and Agencies of Government as well as Stakeholders in the State towards ensuring that the Organized Civil Society Organizations are engaged towards Civic Engagement as the Delta State Civil Society Community remains the voice of Delta Citizens.

In response to the speeches made by the Delta State Civil Society Community Acting Coordinator, Deacon Okezi Odugala and the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Delta State on Civic Engagement and Civil Society, Activist Rex Anighoro, the Delta State Commissioner for Works, Honourable (Chief) James Augoye thanked the Delta State Civil Society Community for the timely advocacy visit paid on his Ministry while committing to partner with the Community in the areas of Projects Protection, Monitoring and Evaluation by the Civil Society Organizations in the State towards sustainable development of the State.

He also committed to support the Civil Society Community in embarking on advocacy engagements that seeks to bring to the doors of citizens what Government is genuinely doing on their behalf, he made it known he was open to constructive criticism from the Civil Society as they are truly the conscience and watchdog of Society.
