By Victor Bieni

ASABA- As Jungle Journalists in Delta State  continuously in their unleashing of Childish and false reports on monthly basis  in an attempt to  tarnish the hard- earned reputation, image of the Senior Civil Servant,  Permanent Sectetary, Government House And Protocol, Sir Edwin Eddy Ogidi -Gbegbaje, a group under the  Aegis of Core Delta Youth (CDY) has warned that the reporters desist from feeding Deltans with misinformation and disinformation or face the wrath of the law as regards defamation of character.

CDY Leadership in a press statement made available to Newsmen in Asaba, Delta State capital by its National Coordinator, Uyero Junior Erarawhewhor and some other Principal Officers of the group today frowned at the use of the media by one Ekpokpobe Iteveh Okeoghene to tarnish the reputation of individuals because of his access to the media.

Ambassador Uyero, formidable Youth leader in the state noted that CDY is Committed to good governance, he added that the group has rated Delta eighty percent in terms of good  Governance, also that Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has provided a style of governance that  is admired and accepted by Deltans.

CDY Coordinator stated that: "Even a blind man could see the people-oriented activities of Governor Okowa administration that cannot be faulted. During the Yuletide the said gifts was extended to all Stakeholders, interest groups in the state. There is no difference on it to be tagged Godfathers as mischievously reported".

The leadership pointed out that the write up by Iteveh lack substance and was done to attract attention of government and get patronage.

CDY group urged the writer to stop further attack on Governor Okowa's  administration, particularly, Sir Ogidi-Gbegbaje, while stating that the said reports was false, childish and  ochestrated by some political detractors, evil-minded individuals whose motives are to mislead Deltans.

The press release reads in parts: "We aware of their plot. We the youths of the state will resist that plot. Sir Edwin is a youth  friendly PS, the Senior Civil Servant should be rewarded for his excellent contributions to the growth and development of the state rather than discrediting his years of hardwork. He is also rated amongst the few generous Deltans as PS even as a young graduate then".

"Its no longer a child's play but a big insult and defamation of character. the major function of a permanent secretary is to sign and disburse and not buying and selling. This despicable act of this junior writer, is to gain popularity by cheap blackmail of the PS and Delta State Government".

CDY Coordinator, Ambassador Uyero, also said before the first false report was released by some faceless reporters, that actually, it was  the same Iteveh who called him to confirm if that VVIP Guest House issue was not true that  proper investigation was not done, then instead of letting it go, he went ahead to publish it.

The youth leader stated that the way the matter is now going that he had the believe that  this unqualified writer is part of a conspiracy to dent the image of this government, most especially by  tackling the the Ps.

The press Statement stated:  "This is barbaric and out of place, this I know is against the ethics of journalism and i believe the authority should look into this and he should be sanctioned. The use of the pen in the hands of journalist is to dish out the right information for the good of the society rather than than extorting people thereby causing mayhem".

"I want to categorically state this, it is of essence that after the year's struggles and work, that man/ woman should be rewarded aside his/ her wages, so I really don't understand this whole attack and constant writeup antagonising the Permanent Secretary".

"If nothing is done to stop  this menace and we see another wishy-washy write up, we will take the case up".
