LG Elections: 74 Political Parties In Delta State Press For Stay Of Action- Emuakpoje-Shocknaijai News


....Says INEC, DSIEC to appear in Court in Asaba tomorrow on Thursday 26th, 2021

The Chairman, State Management Committee (SMC), Inter-Party Advisory Council (IPAC), Delta State Chapter, Comrade Peters Emuakpoje JP has said that 74 Political Parties under his watch has approached the Federal High Court, Asaba to reclaim their political rights in the state ballot System to participate in the forthcoming March 6th, 2021 Local Government Area elections in Delta State.

Emuakpoje disclosed this to newsmen in Asaba in an exclusive interview with our reporter stated that  this development is to ensure that Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and Delta State Independent Electoral Commission (DSIEC) adhere to the judgement of the Appeal Court in Appeal No. CA/ABJ/CV/507/2020.

According to him, the total neglect of the 74 Political Parties after the appeal court judgement on the ground of two conflicting judgement by same court is a breach of the rights of the plaintiffs as protected by the law under section 40 and 221 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and as part of efforts to promote multiple party democracy.

In the originating summons, S. Kelechi Nnadi (Esq.), the counsel to the plaintiffs, Advance Congress of Democrats (AC), Alliance For Social Democrats (ASD), and Change Advocacy Party (CAP) on behalf of the 74 Political Parties had approached the Federal High court, Asaba that the parties are entitled to participate in the processes, field candidates and canvass for votes in the forthcoming March 6th Local Government Elections in Delta State.

Delta IPAC SMC Boss Stated that the plaintiffs, 74 political parties had sought an order of the honourable Court to set aside every pre-election processes and/or actions taken by the 1st and 2nd Defendants towards the conduct of the Local Government Election in Delta State in view of their non-compliance with the judgement of the appeal court, while inviting the media to witness the hearing on the case scheduled to take place on Thursday, being tomorrow January 28th in Federal High Court, Asaba, Delta State.
