Roadmaster: Delta State Civil Society Community Sets To Investigate Okowa's Nickname.

......Group To Monitor all Projects of DTSG, Kick-starts With Ministry of Works on Road Projects.

As part of efforts to promote best global practices on accountability and transparency in the execution of Government projects since the inception of this administration, Delta State Civil Society Community has said that the group is commencing its roads Projects Monitoring and Evaluation in the 25 LGAs of the state, starting from Delta State Ministry of Works.

SSA Civil Society and Civic Engagement, Activist Rex Anighoro, Coordinator, Delta State Civil Society Community, and Member, Delta State Public Procurement Council, Dcn Okezi Odugala, Member, Delta State EndSARS, Police Brutality Committee, Amb. (Dr.) Eris Jewo Obi and other members of the Projects Monitoring Committee, the group at a press briefing with Journalists at DE LANICE HOTEL, Asaba, Delta State capital.

Delta Civil Society Community has stated that their aim of meeting with the media is to sensitize Communities in Delta State on the need to report, monitor, protect and maintain all Government and Private Sectors projects in their various domain from Vandalization and to report back to Delta State Government findings on good jobs or shoddy jobs done by contractors in Road Projects in the State.

Activist Rex Anighoro while commending Governor Ifeanyi Okowa and his administration's openness and acceptance for Delta State Civil Society Community to monitor and Evaluate all his projects and programs starting from 2015 till date, to kick-start with Ministry of Works to authenticate Okowa's nickname as ROADMASTER. He said: " government is everyone's business. Civil Society Community is the watchdog of society, citizens and government. This initiative will give more credibility to this administration when completed. It will promote good governance and in fulfilment of Goal 17 of the UN SDGs".

The Coordinator, Delta Civil Society Community, Dcn Okezi Odugala in his speech stated that the exercise is geared towards the good of all. He said: "We are for nobody but for everyone. I like to inform you all that we are commencing our monitoring and evaluation of all projects of ministries, Departments and Agencies of Delta State Government starting from 2015 till date. It is non-negotiable that we must join hands to work for the sustainable development of our state ,we must promote and sustain peace and security across the state. Without peace and security, development will not happen ".

As a way of promoting gender balancing during the press briefing, the Amb.(Dr.) Eris Jewo Ibi noted that as part of CSOs Intervention in road monitoring projects in the state, that it is very imperative to use this medium to call on Delta State Government to step its jobs on the construction of the Okpanam -Akukuigbo link road to Amachai and other nearby communities before the raining season as deep-seated pit, gully erosion and other natural hazards as lives are endangered and other unpleasant risks is bound to occur there soon.
