Delta 2023: Youngest Governorship Aspirant, Mulade Enjoins Deltans To Elect Experienced, Popular Candidate.

By Victor Bieni, Asaba

Delta State's most popular and youngest Governorship aspirant for 2023 and National Coordinator, Centre For Peace and Environmental Justice (CEPEJ), Chief Comrade Sheriff Mulade has appealed to Deltans to support his ambition to govern Delta State come 2023.

Comrade Sheriff Mulade made the appeal on Monday 22nd September, 2021 in his CEPEJ's branch office at Asaba, Delta State capital saying that he is experienced and competent enough to succeed the incumbent Governor Ifeanyi Okowa in 2023. He assured all Deltans of good governance and more democratic dividends.

In a news statement, the CEPEJ's National Coordinator said he strongly believed that the days of imposition of candidates on the people were over, as the masses who constitute the electorate are the deciding factors in every election process. He also appealed to Deltans to give him their support as he prepares ahead of the Delta State governorship race come 2023. "I have kick-started formally my consultations and I have expressed my interest in the next Governorship race in the State,” he said.

Chief Mulade Sheriff called for support for candidates of the peoples’ choice and mandate, as this is the time for true governance, grassroot inclusiveness in Delta State political process; the time for Deltans to nominate and elect a youthful, popular, experienced and an acceptable candidate of Ijaw extraction, who believes in the power and value of the masses, to be the next Governor of Delta State.

"I, Comrade Chief Sheriff MULADE assure Deltans of the best transformation and positive change in the state when given the mandate. I urge the electorate to be armed with their voters cards ahead of the polls. I know that with the support of all Deltans, we can engender positive progress in Delta State; and to accomplish this, every citizen, 18 years and above, should obtain his or her Permanent Voter’s Card (PVC) and vote for the right and capable candidate” he said.

He added that it is high time we allowed a capable candidate to lead and govern Delta State. "Let us say NO to political manipulations and imposition of candidates who are only seen during general elections. Let’s move forward. We have stood still for too long in Delta State,” he asserted.

He said further - "My desire is to bring positive progressive change to Delta State, and not to oppose any candidate or ethnic group. We are Deltans; we are one big family.
I call for a bottom-up approach for picking standard bearers by the political parties in the coming primaries, stressing that this would eliminate God fatherism in the political system.
Permit me to state that the best approach for nominating a candidate for an elective position, is through the electorate. The governorship seat is not an exception to this," he added.

He expressed the belief that this is the time to change the narrative by adopting the Bottom-Top Approach, where the grassroots, that is the masses, are consulted in the process of nominating a credible, trustworthy and reliable candidate for an election, and not the other way round (Top-Down) where leaders of political parties and political godfathers decide the fate of citizens.
